The Seminole Florida tribe discontinues revenue sharing

The Florida Seminole tribe has reportedly advised Tallahassee legislators to discontinue monthly revenue-sharing payments until the state officially settles a long-running dispute over the regulation of card games such as blackjack direct debit.

Patch passes:

According to a Miami Herald report, the state-approved tribe announced its move on a Tuesday letter given to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after a one-year temporary extension of its current Class III gambling pact had expired at the end of March.

The Seminole Florida tribe is responsible for six South Florida casinos, including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Las Vegas-style Casino Hollywood, as well as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa. These are titles where players bet against the house. However, this exclusivity has now expired and the tribe is reportedly seeking an extension in a much larger renegotiation of its licensing agreement with the state.

Additional considerations:

The Miami Herald reported that the tribe had negotiated with Florida’s former governor Rick Scott over the one-year extension of its gambling pact in the hope that this would give the state ample time to find an acceptable solution. The 40-year-old DeSantis, who only took up his post in January, stated despite the efforts of the Florida Senate that he needed more time to investigate the matter.

DeSantis said …

“It’s a 31-year commitment to the state. By no means could I have done that. The Senate leadership has negotiated what they have the right to do, but I’m the chief negotiator for the state, so I’ll look into how we can get the best deal for Florida. I would like to make an agreement and we will work on it and maybe we can do something until they come back in September. “

Budget bodge:

Legislators, given the volatility of the current relationship between the Seminole tribe and the state, estimated the $ 350 million that the tribe had expected this year as part of its most recent annual budget of $ 91.1 billion for the public purse , not considered.
